langkawi
team building, malaysia
langkawi
offers a wide range of activites for team building,
one of the most interesting is vehicular topography
around the island. We have just returned from
a team building session with GMM pfaudler from
India at berjaya resort at langkawi. previously
we had also conducted vehicluar topography team
building for Citibank Singapore CPP Sales department
leaders at The Andaman, Langkawi.
If
you are visiting langkawi, and you have a driving
license, we will recommend that you rent a car
to get around, in that way, you will be able to
explore the different interesting places around
langkawi island at your own pace. Car rental prices
are very competitive. a japanese made saloon car
will typically cost about RM50 per day for 3 days'
rental (after bargaining).
The
roads on langkawi island is not too complex. what
the car rental salesman puts it, "there are
only 3 round abouts and 7 traffic lights"
basically gives a good idea of how easy it is
to drive around langkawi.
vehicular
team building stations at langkawi can include
visiting the underwater world, water fall, bird
park, eagle feeding, fish feeding, and driving
up a 880m tall mountain for a breath-taking view.
In our opinion, langkawi is one of the best dive
spots in the world, with its marine park so frequently
visited by tourists, even territorial fishes like
the trigger fish remain calm when divers swim
near them. black tip reef sharks also swim near
the coast in small groups.
langkawi
also has a wide range of quality hotels to choose
from, ranging from the renowned the andaman(their
service is simply superb, living up to their 5-star
resort status), the datai and the sheraton perdana
resort to their smaller counterparts in/near town.
traditionally
a fishing village, langkawi was transformed by
its duty free status in 1987 into a buzzling island
with lots of eating and drinking places to choose
from.
below
are some pictures of team building participants
in langkawi which we conducted in 2004:
another
attraction not to be missed is the langkawi cable
car ride at Gunung Mat Chincang. It is about 15
mins drive from the airport. the cable car ascends
at 42° up to the middle deck which is 650m
above sea level, then to the summit at about 710m
above sea level.
the
cable car ride at langkawi costs RM15 per person
and the whole journey takes 30mins, excluding
stoppage time for any team building games or photo
taking. we would suggest a 15 mins or half hour
stay at the summit to enjoy the scenery or to
take pictures.
on
the way up, in the see-through cable car cabins,
you will see a breath taking view of gunung mat
chincang and gunung raya, as well as some resorts
and beaches. you will also see - and hear - waterfalls
below you in the dense vegetation.
at
the summit station you will see platforms that
give you a spectacular view of langkawi island,
as well as tree top bridges that are partially
suspended on cables. The view is simply breath
taking. At the bridge and the platforms you are
right about the same height as the clouds, the
air is also superbly fresh and cool.
to
get to langkawi island from singapore, the most
direct way is to catch a direct flight to the
langkawi airport. langkawi is also accessible
via ferry from Kuala Kedah, Kuala Perlis &
penang.
